Why the Kingsbridge Series is Worth Reading

Have you ever picked up a book and been immediately hooked? The book is so captivating that you just can't put it down. Well, that's how I felt when I started reading the Kingsbridge series by Ken Follett. Set in medieval England, the Kingsbridge series follows the lives of countless characters as they navigate their way through love, loss, war, and betrayal.

Here are three reasons why I think the Kingsbridge series is a must-read.


Reason #1: The Characters are Compelling and Relatable
One of the things I love most about the Kingsbridge series is that the characters are so well-developed. Follett does an excellent job of painting a picture of each character's motivations, hopes, and fears. As a result, I found myself becoming emotionally invested in their lives and rooting for them to achieve their goals. What's more, because the characters are so well-rounded, they feel like real people—people that I could easily imagine bumping into on the street or sitting next to on the bus.

Reason #2: The Plot is Engrossing and Unpredictable
Another reason why I think the Kingsbridge series is worth reading is because the plot is absolutely fascinating. Follett weaves together multiple storylines in a way that keeps readers guessing until the very end. Just when you think you have everything figured out, something happens that completely changes your perspective. It's this unpredictability that makes it impossible to put the books down—I was always eager to find out what would happen next!

Reason #3: The Writing is beautiful and lyrical
Lastly, I think the Kingsbridge series is worth reading because Ken Follett is a master storyteller. His writing is beautiful and lyrical, transportive and immersive. Every time I picked up one of his books, I felt like I was transported back in time to medieval England. His descriptions of the landscape, architecture, and fashion were so vivid that I could almost see it all in my mind's eye.
