Biography
Lee Child was born in England in 1954. He grew up in a small town called Coventry and went to university at the University of Sheffield, where he studied law. After graduation, he moved to America and worked various jobs before ending up in television. He eventually became a staff writer for Granada Television, where he wrote over 200 episodes of various hit TV shows. In 1995, he was fired from Granada and decided to write a book. That book was Killing Floor, and it was an instant bestseller. Child has now written over 20 books, all of which have been bestsellers. He currently lives in New York City with his wife and son.

Books
As mentioned above, Child's first book was Killing Floor, which was published in 1997. It introduced readers to the character of Jack Reacher, a drifter with a mysterious past who always seems to find himself in the middle of trouble. Killing Floor was so successful that it spawned a series of sequels, all of which have been bestsellers. Some of Child's other popular books include Tripwire, Running Blind, Bad Luck and Trouble, and Worth Dying For. In total, Child has sold over 100 million books and his books have been translated into over 40 languages.

Awards
Child's success has earned him numerous awards and accolades over the years. In 2012, he won the prestigious Crime Writers' Association Diamond Dagger award for lifetime achievement in crime writing. His book 61 Hours also won the Barry Award for Best Thriller/Suspense novel in 2010. In addition, three of Child's books have been adapted into movies: Jack Reacher (2012), Jack Reacher: Never Go Back (2016), and Killing Floor (1997).
