What I had intended to order was a narrow paperback book called Mountains in the Sea, Table Mountain to Cape Point - An interpretive guide to the Table Mountain National Park, that could fit into a backpack pocket and was beautifully produced on high quality paper with outstanding photographs and lots of really useful and interesting text. What I received was a large, hardback coffee-table book called Mountains in the Sea, Table Mountain to Cape Point - A Celebration of Table Mountain National Park, which contains mostly large glossy photographs but very little text, mainly just short paragraphs as captions for the pictures. It’s a lovely book, and amazing value for money, but if you want extensive information about hikes, places of interest, history of the area, flora and fauna, etc etc, this is not the book for you (nor is it for me). Further searches reveal that the small book is not available locally, as far as I can ascertain, which is a great pity. Please, Sanparks, consider reissuing this little book - it’s a fantastic resource for anyone who is interested in exploring the wonders of the Table Mountain National Park. The big coffee table book is lovely for visitors to take home as a reminder of their holiday, but not much use for much else.
