Enter a vanished and unjust world: Jackson, Mississippi, 1962. Where black maids raise white children, but aren't trusted not to steal the silver... There's Aibileen, raising her seventeenth white child and nursing the hurt caused by her own son's tragic death; Minny, whose cooking is nearly as sassy as her tongue; and white Miss Skeeter, home from College, who wants to know why her beloved maid has disappeared.

Skeeter, Aibileen and Minny. No one would believe they'd be friends; fewer still would tolerate it. But as each woman finds the courage to cross boundaries, they come to depend and rely upon one another. Each is in a search of a truth. And together they have an extraordinary story to tell...

The Help

Excellent read. Very relevant, well written highlighting the racial prejudices of the era. Still many lessons that can be learned from this today. A recommended read most definitely.

Time to stay Woke

Learning about racial prejudices in a period based book, we are introduced to the plight of domestics of African American descent in a white world. The simple issue of the outside toilet being built for only The Help to use is enough to tell you what you will read about. The innocence of the young and the racial lines that can't be crossed - it's an eye opener for any reader

The movie brought me to the book

Tough to rate a book that dances on racial lines, but if anything, The Help has inspired necessary conversations that have long been sidelined. Easy reading, but difficult content that highlights stereotypes and can get uncomfortable if you're not aware of your own prejudices.
