Every few decades a book is published that changes the lives of its readers forever. This is such a book - a beautiful parable about learning to listen to your heart, read the omens strewn along life's path and, above all, follow your dreams.

Santiago, a young shepherd living in the hills of Andalucia, feels that there is more to life than his humble home and his flock. One day he finds the courage to follow his dreams into distant lands, each step galvanised by the knowledge that he is following the right path: his own. The people he meets along the way, the things he sees and the wisdom he learns are life-changing.

Amazing Book!

By far, this is one of the best books I have ever read. It's an incredible story that inspires us - especially the youth - to realize our dreams and work hard to reach our destination. And by that, the whole universe conceives that it happens. The story is very enchanting and bursts with optimism, which I think is very important in our lives.
The book shows that the journey to your destination is just as important as the destination itself.
An allegorical novel 'The Alchemist' follows a young shepherd boy, Santiago, on his journey to the pyramid in Egypt, after having a dream of finding a treasure there. He follows his dream to the end, even though he has experienced many problems and suffering. The story also tells of true love, true love will not cease, nor must it sacrifice its personal destiny, for it robs it of the truth.
I truly believe this is one of those books that deserves a space on everyone's bookshelf, and I can recommend it to all my friends. Hopefully it will inspire you just as much as it inspired and motivated me.

A global favourite

The Alchemist is one of those books you can come back to at different times in your life and it will have new meaning for you each time you read it. When the central message is to follow your dream above all else, how can it not be inspiring and motivating? I love coming back to this very simple tale - it's an easy narrative with a big message. Only 4 stars because it's not *exceptionally* well written, but that's beside the point ;)
